About Us: The labor force behind Bremery Industries consists of the hardworking talents of Brandon Bond and Emery Bond. The Bond Brothers have over 18 combined years of work experience in the field of construction. They have participated in a wide range of construction projects from landscaping to framing. They began learning the trade by working for several builders constructing custom homes for over 5 years, and continued this learning process by completing work on their own. The Bond Brothers graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. Brandon majored in the field of Mechanical Engineering and Emery majored in the field of Construction Engineering. Our History: Since the Bond Brothers are identical twins, they grew up learning how to work together. Their father was a Carpenter, and the twins had always helped him with small scale construction projects around the house. Their father encouraged their inventive talents and allowed them to tinker in the fields of their interests, which included construction and car mechanics.
When the Brothers were 16, they worked at a golf driving range where their duties ranged from mowing lawns and picking up golf balls. Very soon after they began working here, their construction talents rewarded them a promotion to maintenance workers with tasks that included replacement of broken irrigation lines and servicing of mechanical equipment. Working at the range instilled the values of working hard to earn a living, and more importantly how to work under a schedule. (They would have to complete all the maintenance work out on the range before 10 am when the range opened). They worked at the driving range for two seasons, and enjoyed every day there.
Bremery Industries officially started in the spring of 2000 when the brothers had become tired of mowing lawns and painting. They mutually decided to move on to bigger and more challenging projects. Soon after this decision, they were personally approached by a homeowner who was interested in replacing rotted trim on their house. The brothers eagerly accepted the offer, and put together a price. Since this was the first time that they had to put together an estimate, they looked to their father for advice. He told them that since the outside trim was rotting, that there was a possibility that the framing was rotted too. He cautioned them to consider taking this work on, because it could potentially be more then simply replacing some pieces of wood, but he understood that it would be a good learning experience. The brothers completed the work, and the framing beneath the trim was rotted. The homeowners appreciated the effort and foresight that Brandon and Emery put into their estimate, and were happy with the outcome. Now the Brothers had their first job under their belts, and looked forward to the next opportunity. The Brothers continued to perform odd jobs, and slowly took on larger and more complex projects.
While their business was slowly transforming, the brothers worked for a local homebuilder on the weekends and after school. Their business was stalled during this interval while they worked six days each week. While working for this builder the brothers learned to do almost everything associated with building a home. The brothers learned how to layout a foundation, pour concrete, frame a house, install windows, vinyl siding, roofing shingles, insulation, drywall, kitchen cabinets, and finish trim. They built several new homes, and worked on a couple of renovation projects. After they finished up high school and moved on to college, Brandon went on to work for another local builder and Emery worked for a finish trim carpenter during school breaks. They valued these new set of construction skills, and took Bremery Industries to the next level with their new found knowledge.
In the fall of 2004, Bremery Industries got their first major project. A homeowner contacted them to build a one car detached garage. The homeowner hired an architect to design the structure, and the brothers reviewed the plans. After a brief plan review Brandon and Emery determined that the plans did not meet the requirements of the site and took it on themselves to make a design that would work. Brandon and Emery used the knowledge that they were learning in textbooks at Wentworth Institute of Technology into action. They went to the local building department and obtained plot plans and setback requirements, and started their design. After proposing that plan to the homeowner and meeting with the building department, it was decided that the plan designed by Bremery Industries would be used for the final construction.
Soon after the brothers got approval, they hired a local site work contractor, and began excavating for the footings. In the proceeding weekends the Bond Brothers formed and poured the footings and foundations, and built the garage while attending classes during the week. This was a great project for the brothers, because they were able to prove they could do a large project both on time and on budget, and on their terms.
In 2007 the Brandon and Emery decided that as the business grows and expands, that they should be versed in safety, and the Massachusetts building code. It was decided that Emery would go and get his Construction Supervisors License and become OSHA 30 Hour trained.
Growing up in New England gave the brothers a passion for winter. When they were children, the brothers would sit by the window and watch the snowplows go by. After it stopped snowing they would go and shovel the neighbor's driveway. They loved snow, and their parents could not keep them out of it. Naturally when Brandon and Emery turned 16, they combined their money and bought a 1989 Ford F250 plow truck so they could also go plowing themselves. The brothers learned how to do commercial snow removal while working for a friend of the family during major snow storms. They took this knowledge, and started their own route. About The Name: Although the brothers love the name Bremery, they can not take full credit for it. Yes, it is a combination of Brandon and Emery, but there is a story behind it. While the Brothers were freshmen in high school they played football. When they had all their gear on, it was very difficult for their coach to tell the two of them apart. The coach decided to take the BR from Brandon, and the Emery from Emery and combine them into Bremery to eliminate confusion. They decided to add the word Industries to the name because the word construction just did not do their talents justice. They are capable of doing almost anything from construction, metal fabrication, to auto mechanics. The name has stuck with the brothers ever since.
